Q: How do you deal with an extremely introverted client?

A: I am going to assume this question is being asked of an extrovert.  If not, this would not really be an issue. Two introverts are likely to work well together…often processing information silently and separately, and perhaps e-mailing each other after a decision has been reached or a conclusion made. However, an extrovert needs to realize that his/her personality can be very overwhelming to a perceived “extreme introvert.” The best thing you can do is to give your client a quiet presence, space, and time to process. Don’t try to “force” them to come out of their metaphorical shells. Let them be who they are. Try to tone down your own emotion, energy, and volume at meet them where they are.
